They are cute, even beautiful, and if you happen to be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a large buck staring at you through the trees during a winter sunset, majestic. But what about your azaleas and tulips? They are beautiful too, and majestic as well (depending on who you talk to), and just like you, the deer love them. Bottom line, and regardless of how stunning they look, deer can be a nuisance for many homeowners in our area due to high population concentration.

You may ask “why?” Entrepreneurship and managing your own firm comes with a plethora of “stresses”: where will my next big job come from, where do I spend my minuscule marketing budget, can I actually spend the extra money to hire a professional photographer (can I afford not to!?), did I reconcile my QuickBooks properly this month, and will I remember to invoice Mr. Jones’ account for that postage and handling at the end of the month? These may seem silly for the larger, more established firms out there, so bear with me for a moment, but as we all know, the struggle is real.

I had the pleasure of working with a great family, landscape contractor, and pool installer on a difficult project in 2015-2016, almost straight out of the gate after starting my own firm. The project allowed the family to utilize a significant portion of their property that was otherwise unusable (steep slope and ledge). As a team, we created an oasis for the family to spend more time outdoors socializing, relaxing, and being closer to nature.
